The Axkid Minikid 2.0 is the newest version of the Minikid, launched in 2018. It has been approved to use for children from 0-25kgs, which is up to 6 years old, so your child is able to travel rearward facing for longer. One of the new features of the Axkid Minikid 2.0 is the ASIP (Axkid Side Impact Protection), which has been developed with a leading crash institute in Germany. The ASIP is placed on the Minikid on whichever side is neaarest to the car door, if the Minikid is in the middle then there is no need to use it. To secure the Axkid 2.0 in to the car, you will use the car seat belt and tether straps; which self tighten when you “wiggle” the Minikid in to place. The leg prop has now been improved so can be extended easily from the side using one button. The headrest of the Minikid is now cozier and more comfortable, great for when children fall asleep, and the headrest and internal harness automatically adjust to the child’s height.
Although, the Minikid 2.0 has a comfortable insert and 5 recline positions, it is not really designed to use as a replacement for an infant carrier. Axkid would suggest that you still use an infant carrier for a newborn baby, to give the comfort, protection and safest angle for travelling that a small baby needs. If you require a better angle in the Minikid, or if you have bucketed car seats, then Axkid suggest you use the angle adjusting wedge (available to purchase separately). If you wish to use the Axkid Minikid in more than one car, it may be useful to have a second set of tether straps (also available to purchase separately) then you can keep one set in each car making it much quicker and easier to move the Axkid Minikid between them.
